A native of St. John's, Newfoundland, Nina Weber has been playing the violin since the age of three but has recently found her true instrumental voice in the viola. Currently at The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, she is pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in viola performance under the tutelage of Emilie Grimes. Recent professional engagements have included sitting principal viola for Opera on the Avalon's productions of Tosca and the contemporary opera, Dead Man Walking, as well as joining the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra as their youngest player ever. As a soloist, she was a three time winner of the Atlantic Rosebowl, and was also a featured soloist with her youth orchestra for the performance of Saint Saens' Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso. An avid chamber musician, her quartet won first prize in British Columbia's Friends of Chamber Music Competition in 2018. Additionally, Nina will join the National Youth Orchestra of Canada for a second time as a principal violist for their 2019 tour of Spain.
